I suffered a cardiac arrest in 2010. Afterwards I slowly drifted away from my previous style of painting.
Nowadays I work mainly with acrylic on canvas and build abstract compositions that switch between structure and spontaneity—balancing vibrant geometric shapes with softer gradients.
The portals or doors in my Egress series reflect my fascination with moments of transition—both personal and universal and refer to the NDE I can't remember but re-imagine.
The interplay of color and form in series such as “Broken Flux” and “Skism” channel a sense of movement, energy, and tension, sometimes playful, sometimes unsettling.
My process is intuitive yet deliberate, guided by curiosity and a desire to evoke mood without obvious narrative.
I am Sven Op de Beeck, born in 1964, almost dead in 2010 but still alive this present day. I am a self taught painter based in De Pinte , Belgium.
